Frederick Street
Wimbledon, London
PROJECT TYPE: Whole-house Cabinetry
DESIGN: Flower Michelin
OVERVIEW: A full four-storey Wimbledon residential demolition and new residential build project, including an extensive basement leisure suite. Barr Joinery had the privilege of manufacturing bespoke cabinetry to the designs of Flower Michelin Architects. The collection includes floor-to-ceiling cabinetry for the basement wellness suite, a fully panelled dining-room, with built-in bar and a complete traditional library fitout. In addition, a shower room and two WC vanity units and made-to-measure cabinetry for the boot room.

The Library

Butt-hinges, pull handles and cabinet knobs from Joseph Giles are in a mid-antique brass waxed finish. Integrated lighting allows library users to set the scene for daytime and evening use.
The true centre piece, however, is a cleverly designed 'hidden door', formed through a hinged library section, transporting you discretely from a quiet reading space into a hideaway storage room befitting of this stunning family home.

The Formal Dining Room - Hidden Bar

A statement high gloss Paint & Paper Library ‘Ganache’ internal achieves a striking polished copper look, amplified by an antique mirrored back panel, enticing guests to extend the evening with a delectable cocktail or digestif.

As you descend into the basement space, you’re drawn towards a serene wellness suite, complete with integrated kitchenette / bar, leading onto a patio and beautifully manicured Wimbledon lawn.
The cabinetry is defined by vertical angled slatted door panels, stained to a walnut finish, with subtle, flat Joseph Giles bronze edge pulls, allow you to open-out or discretely hide the functional station. Inside walnut shelving over a marbled worktop and backdrop, sit above walnut slab doors, with recessed handles.
An aged brass Perrin & Rowe hot water tap and undermounted brass basin mirror the cabinet's slim metal kickplates which skirt a polished concrete floor. This is a space where you can truly find respite from a busy London life.
