This summer we were lucky enough to work on a wonderful property with sister construction company, StuartBarr CDR. We were also working alongside architects HollandGreen, experts in AV, lighting and technology Chris Lewis and architectural glazing specialists IQ Glass, this year long build project tackled the strip out and high specification refurbishment, remodelling and extension of this spectacular property - releasing its true living potential and doing justice to its stunning Chiltern views.
With the BarrJoinery design and manufacture teams tackling the interior joinery throughout, from children’s bedroom furniture (complete with pink flamingo pinboard!) to a classic office with library storage, we took our clients from initial design brief, to sketches, pre-production digital rendering, right through to the final finish.
Working closely with the client throughout the project ensuring we delivered the high quality cabinetry that was demanded to their exact specification. The designs needed to work harmoniously with both the classic styling of the original building and the contemporary extension.
Soft close drawer runners were used throughout this project. Hardwearing, durable and a joy to use, these are fitted as standard for all of our internal cabinetry projects.
To maintain fluidity through the project a small palette of hues was chosen in soft cool colours, spray finished for a contemporary smooth result. This not only created a flow and calmness throughout this busy family home but exaggerates the beautiful craftsmanship and natural timbers. Here you can see the hand crafted dovetail joins and oak handle details.
The property is cleverly zoned using different levels, glass screens and sliding doors to provide multi functional and versatile spaces in living areas. As popular as open plan living remains it is important to make allowances for private spaces. Making rooms adaptable for the developing dynamics and various functions that will fulfil the ever-changing requirements of a growing family.
