Giles Miller studio
Fascinated by the relationship between light and material, their London-based studio specialises in the development of truly innovative surface, sculptural and architectural works. Their work focuses on light, reflection, texture and the manipulation of these elements to create conceptually subtle yet beautifully functional artworks. The scope and scale of our output ranges from the design of individual mosaic tiles, to splash backs to artworks the size of buildings. All projects are designed in-house with the vast majority being completed by hand in a practice that marries technically innovative design with a hand-crafted process of making. Object Studio bridges the gap between the creative world of design and the technological world of manufacture. Their products are designed and manufactured from their studio and workshops in east London, employing both traditional and cutting edge production techniques. Object Studio was founded by Thomas Vaughan after graduating with a masters degree in Product Design from the Royal College of Art. Having previously trained in cabinet making he combines the traditional knowledge of wood craft with the digital methods of industrial design and manufacture. Object Studio is now a small team of highly skilled designers and craftsmen producing designs in various materials from wood through to metals and plastics. Their workshops are equipped to meet the demands of manipulating materials into the sculptural forms that they are known for producing, such as this pictured striking bench.
