30th Aug 2017
This year celebrates four decades of bringing the design community together. Decorex prides itself on the creative and collaborative environment it nurtures, between designers, suppliers, artists and fine craftsman. We are honoured to be manufacturing the Champagne Bar, centrepiece of the event, for this the 40th anniversary. Designed by Shalini Misra Ltdand inspired by the first British exhibition of 1851 opened by Queen Victoria herself, we can expect a beautiful and unique re-imagination of Victorian style and glamour. The perfect place to immerse yourself in fine craftsmanship and design inspiration and indulge in a glass of fizz.
The champagne bar is made up of a combination of materials and finishes that lend themselves beautifully to this years theme ‘return to nature’ and still encompass the decadence of the British exhibition of 1851 by which it is inspired. Features include made to measure anodised gold mesh, solid oak frames, wallpapered linings from Tektura, a black gloss hand finish and ceramic arabesque tiles.
Following on from Pantone's colour of the year ‘Greenery’ there has been no shortage of green and botanical interiors in a vast spectrum of hues, with designers taking their own unique view of the trend. We particularly love De Gournay's stunning bamboo wallpaper and the ‘Paradise’ fabric from Kai Fabrics. ‘Return to Nature’ at Decorex encompasses the recent trend to embraces all things natural and hand crafted; this can also be seen in the recent re-immergence of the hand woven or rattan trend that is popping up where everyone glances.
”Decorex has become a destination for designers wanting to create truly original bespoke interiors.” Hatta Byng, House & Garden. This year is certainly no exception, along with the BarrJoinery - Shalini Misra Ltd collaboration, at the centre of the grand marquee, the main entrance will feature an exciting debut collaboration between Matthew Williamson and Osborne & Little. This year’s Decorex will also include the exhibitor debuts from over 100 new design houses as well as cutting edge suppliers from lighting to accessories and flooring to furniture, all in preparation to get your design juices flowing.
We can’t wait to see the trends that will emerge after this year’s event, coming soon…
