Junior Cabinetry Designer
Full time, Barr Group HQ
About the Role
We’re looking for a Junior Cabinetry Designer to join our in-house design team. This is a hands-on, diverse role that will see you contributing across all stages of the design process—from initial concepts to technical drawings. You’ll work closely with senior designers and collaborate with our workshop team to bring a wide range of furniture projects to life.
Projects will vary in complexity: from modifying existing designs in our portfolio to developing bespoke, larger design briefs from scratch. This variety offers a great opportunity to broaden your skill set and grow as a designer.
You’ll also engage directly with clients via email, phone, and occasionally face-to-face at our workshop and design studio, so strong and confident communication is essential. Beyond client-facing work, you’ll play an important role in producing accurate technical drawings to present to clients and stakeholders, ensuring both the end user and our cabinet makers have a clear understanding of what is being produced.
Working in a small, collaborative team, you’ll contribute to design and technical discussions throughout the process—helping ensure that each piece meets budget, timeline, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate design briefs into clear concepts and accurate technical drawings
- Represent the design team in communications with clients and stakeholders.
- Support senior designers with research, prototyping, and materials sourcing
- Work closely with the workshop team to ensure designs are practical, achievable and deliverable to quoted timeframes.
Skills & Experience
- Background and experience in bespoke furniture design, product design, or a related field
- A strong passion for design, furniture, and craftsmanship
- Proficiency in SketchUp is essential; rendering skills within the platform are a bonus
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working in a small, dynamic team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Competent in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite
Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience
